It was amazing start of 2013. I,
along with my bosom companion have started our New Year journey with the
bird-watching (certainly recreational) at Baikka Beal (wetland) in Sreemongol
(North-eastern Bangladesh). The morning of 2nd January 2013 was astonishing.
Opportunely, that morning was less misty and the surrounding weather was
obliging. Within only three hours, I found more than 500 snaps in my memory
cards. There were millions of birds of around fifty different species. I was
surprised, as I never seen that much flying exquisiteness together in past.
There were so many kinds of them, from common kingfisher to rare oriental
darter. To some extent, the sunlight was also favorable and luckily we had couple
hour’s long small wooden boat journey through the wetland after the birds. One
local guide, who knows almost all the birds like a father, accompanied us at
that magnificent morning.
