Osprey (Pandion haliaetus)


Osprey-Worlds one of the charismatic birds, also known as “Sea Eagle” and “Fish Hawk” because of it’s distinguished behavior.  Osprey found throughout the world except Antarctica, besides water body like mangroves, seashores, lakes, rivers, and marshes. We found this bird all around the Sundarban (The largest mangrove forest). They are used to build their nest on a large dead or dying tree. Usually, fish hawks are visible along the bank of large river and on the top of the tree.
The Osprey has a body length of 1.5 - 1.7 m, a 5 - 6 foot wingspan, and weighs 1.5 - 2 kg.
Osprey’s primary food is live fish.
